Privacy Policy

Intern Gateway is a free app that aggregates tech internship listings from company career pages into one searchable feed. Browsing and searching never require an account. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can remove it. Most of it is collected only if you choose to sign in; the one exception, anonymous listing views, is described below.

Information We Collect

We collect only what's needed to support bookmarking, notifications, and showing which listings are trending:

Account email and password. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Supabase. We never see or store your raw password ourselves — Supabase manages that securely on our behalf.
Bookmarks. Which internship listings you've saved.
Saved searches. The search filters you've chosen to save (keywords, company, location, remote preference, department) so we can alert you to new matches.
Push notification token. A device-specific identifier used only to deliver alerts about saved-search matches and weekly deadline reminders for your bookmarks.
Listing views. When you open a listing, our server records that it was viewed, the time, and an anonymous identifier generated for your app install (or, where that isn't available, derived from basic connection details), stored only as a one-way hash. It isn't linked to your account, name, or email, and it applies whether or not you're signed in. We use it only to show which listings are trending.

We do not collect resumes, payment information, your name, or your phone number. There is no file upload feature anywhere in the app, and we don't use any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only thing we record about your activity in the app is which listings are opened, as described above.

How We Use Information

To authenticate you and keep your bookmarks and saved searches in sync across sessions.
To send a push notification when a new internship listing matches one of your saved searches.
To send a weekly notification about upcoming deadlines or listings that appear to have closed among your bookmarks, if you've allowed notifications.
To show which internships are trending, based on anonymous view counts.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Third-Party Services

A small number of infrastructure providers process data on our behalf, strictly to run the app:

Supabase — handles authentication (your email, password, and session tokens).
Railway — hosts our backend API and database, which stores listings, your bookmarks, your saved searches, and anonymous listing-view records.
Expo (Expo Application Services) — delivers push notifications using your device's push token.

Each of these providers may log standard technical information (such as IP address and request timestamps) purely as part of operating their infrastructure.

Applying to Internships

Tapping "Apply on company site" takes you to the hiring company's own website — typically hosted on Greenhouse, Lever, or Ashby, the job platforms these companies use to accept applications. At that point you've left Intern Gateway entirely: we don't collect, see, or store anything you submit there. That company's own privacy policy governs whatever information you provide on their site.

Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account at any time, directly in the app: Saved tab → account icon → Delete Account. This immediately and permanently removes your bookmarks, saved searches, and account — including your underlying authentication record — from our systems. This action cannot be undone.

Anonymous listing-view records aren't tied to your account and can't be linked back to you, so they aren't removed when you delete your account.

Children's Privacy

Intern Gateway is intended for college students and young professionals and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@interngateway.app and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
